Winners of the 2011 Bronze Quill Awards competition will be recognized at our annual Gala Event on June 2nd at the Long Center for the Performing Arts.

This promises to be an unforgettable evening you won't want to miss. Not only will we recognize Austin's best and brightest communicators, along with IABC/Austin's first Communicator of the Year, but we'll also be joined by a true Austin communications legend as we take a compelling look at where we've been and where we're going as an industry.

Special Guests
Sixty-year Texas public relations veteran Julian Read will sit down with the Texas Tribune's Mark Miller for a conversation about how the field of communications is undergoing revolutionary changes.

When Julian founded the Read-Poland public relations agency in 1951 in Ft. Worth, teletype machines and radio ruled the industry. Sixty years later, email, Facebook and the five-second news cycle continue to change how we communicate with each other, how we reach potential customers and how we manage issues and protect corporate brands. These industry-wide changes have given rise to a new breed of news media—those focusing on a mostly online distribution.

The Texas Tribune is one of these news outlets. While it has partnerships with several print publications, most of its content is released through its website. It leverages social media, video, audio and even in-person events "to serve the journalism community as a source of innovation and to build the next great public media brand in the United States."

Save the Date: June 2, 2011
The evening will also feature a display of award-winning work, great networking opportunties, incredible food and drink, live entertainment and much more. Stay tuned for more details! Registration for the June 2nd gala opens in March.
